IT Upgrade 2012

Coláiste Éanna have undertaken a substantial upgrade of the IT infrastructure in the school.

The most notable part of the upgrade to you is the move from Windows XP to Windows 7.

All of your files have been kept so no one will have lost anything. Shortcuts that you had on your desktop will have disappeared
so you will have to recreate these

Other upgrades that have happened over the summer

  • Complete network overhaul.
  • Upgrade of Broadband 8 MB to 100 MB Download
  • New Server
  • Wireless in Staffroom and Assembly Hall (Not Operational Yet)

    • There where a few delays during the summer with the building program and this has prevented me from getting access to certain rooms.

    The current list of work to be done is

    • Room 2, Re-install Projector and Computer
    • Room 3, Re-install Projector and Computer
    • Room 4, Re-install Projector and Computer
    • Room 5, Re-install Projector and Computer
    • Room 11, Re-install computer
    • Room 19, Re-install computer
    • Room 39, change of projector
    • JJ Science Room Projector to be mounted

    The estimated completion date for these is Tuesday 28th. Priority will be given to get computers into rooms, followed soon after with projectors

    The following should also be taken into consideration

    • Student Logons will not be activated until Friday morning. All computer rooms are not operational until then.
    • AB Tutor will be made available on the network until Wednesday 28th.
    • Wireless will become available in the next 1-2 weeks.

    REMEMBER ALL QUERIES MUST HAVE A TICKET. USE THE IT SUPPORT ICON ON THE DESKTOP FOR ALL QUERIES
