05 Oct U14 Hurling
The U14 hurling team were crowned Dublin A Champions after defeating St Fintan’s of Sutton at Parnell Park before Easter. The team defied all the odds after a league campaign that didn’t show Éanna as potential champions. A victory over Scoil Aodain, a draw versus Salesian College and a loss to Castleknock was not the form of title contenders.
However when the championship came around we saw a totally different Éanna side. In the first round Éanna were pitted against our neighbours St Colmcille’s. This local derby proved to be a catalyst in the turning of our season with Éanna running out convincing winners on a scoreline of 9-13 to 1-4. This result gave the players both self belief and confidence that was needed to take on the favourites Ard Scoli Rís in the semi-final in Parnell Park.
Éanna dug deep and every player gave their all for the Éanna cause. We ran out deserving winners by 2 points, 2-12 to 2-9.
The final was on April 13th in Parnell Park. In what was a very tense affair throughout, Éanna pulled away in the latter stages and ended up winning by 6 points on a scoreline of 3-14 to 3-8.
Captain Éanne O’Toole lifted the Cup for Éanna for the first time since 2007. At the time of going to print Eanna were preparing for the Leinster final, the opponents as of yet unknown.
Well done to all of the lads for their effort throughout the year!
