First Year Field Trip

On the first day after the Easter break, classes A2 and A3 went on a field trip to the Wicklow Mountains with Mr.Hayden, Mr.Dalton and Miss Dunne. Students were out of class for the whole day and went to visit places such as Lough Bray Upper and Lower as well as Lough Tay. They stopped off at the River Cloghoge to conduct a river study. Class A2 and A3 identified the speed at which the river was travelling and took some random samples of the bedload deposited in the river.

The trip then moved on to the Glenmacnass waterfall and concluded in Glendalough. After lunch students enjoyed a video presentation by the OPW on the historic settlement in Glendalough and were given a guided tour around the monastic site. The group returned to the school exhausted after an enjoyable day of geography in the field.
